                               Amputees

11 years ago I  lost both hands in an electrical accident. When I went to the rehabilitation center I thought that I was going to be trained to be independent again. It didnt happen that way. I felt frustrated and felt like there was no one able to help me or understand me in the ways that I needed .  After only a few sessions I ended up doing my own rehab and training myself. It wasn't that the people at the Rehab center were not  doing their best. It was just they weren't amputees so how could they train me to be something they never have been.

Who can tell a blind man how it is to be blind? A person with sight? or a blind person? the answer is easy. As a amputee, it works the same way. I started off using body-powered prosthesis and now I am using myoelectrics.

When I first became a bilateral amputee I was told there were so many things I would not be able to do or how I was going to have to use adaptive products along with my prosthesis. I proved them wrong.

Today I am totally independent and I am considered one of, if not the best in prosthesis use. I am told I am the exception to the rule. I dont have to be.

If you are frustrated with not being able to do what you used to, and you want to learn how to be independent again, let me show you the methods I've developed to help you achieve it.

I have mastered routine tasks that critics said  couldnt be done.  I've been where you are and I know how to help you get through it.

It can be frustrating and its going to take practice and patience ,but I can consult with you in order for you to obtain daily independence. I know how the body works and I know how to manipulate the prothesis to work with the body, something a person with hands can't teach you, because they don't know whats it's like to have loss of a limb.

I have a range of services to fit your needs. Long and short term mentoring. prosthesis trainning. learning to do things independently. Or if there is something else you are in need of, let me know . We will work together and make a plan that works for you. If you want to learn things that others can't teach you I can help. You may wish to contact your Rehabilitaion Center and ask them if they are willing to bring me as a consultant or specialist for you to meet with.

  • I encourage you to contact me if you or a loved one could use some "hands-on" experience. If you have any questions or would like more information about me or my services.
